Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat | Sound Design

Dave demonstrated remarkable skill in navigating the technical and spatial challenges posed by the size and outdated structural aspects of the auditorium, as well as the large cast of “Joseph…” The vocals in this production were consistently audible with very few weak spots or dead zones on stage. Dave showcased a strong balance between artistry and technical execution, ensuring every principal singer was heard clearly and supported by the ensemble, without upstaging key moments in the show. It was evident that significant time and care were spent balancing the sound, allowing both amplified and non-amplified performers to be heard and enjoyed equally throughout the performance.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat | Pyramid Design

The use of wagons equipped with their pyramid-like light bars, not only created a visually striking element but also served as versatile set pieces that represented various locations throughout the show.

I loved the use…[of] traveling pyramids on either side of the stage[. They] allowed for a clear change in location and the lights on the sides of the pyramid provided a vibe that matched the scene and song.

Make 'Em Laugh | Projection & Remote Design

One of the big things that made this show so special were the tech elements- those projections and the magic remote were very well executed and I'm impressed with the ability that David Kolenda put on display for us with these. My feeling is that this was professional-level stuff, and David should be proud of all of his efforts to bring this show to life.

From a set and production perspective, I really enjoyed how you took up the full space of television screens while the show went on. I appreciate that you utilized each screen differently, and it wasn't just one unanimously shared across, you took the moment to actually separate the visuals and make a giant collage of some of our best American TV, and I loved it! The commercials, the montages, and the classic intros were all plastered across that screen, and we as an audience were engaged with the fun moment-to-moment change ups.
